| (English version follows) INVITATION : CONFÉRENCE DE PRESSE Vendredi 19 septembre 2025 – 11h136-138, rue Adolphe Fischer – local de l’ASTM Lien Zoom de la conférence Meeting ID: 864 2015 1069 Passcode: 270375 SANCTIONS A L’ENCONTRE D’ISRAËL RAPPEL DES INITIATIVES PRISES AU LUXEMBOURG Dans un contexte de violations massives des droits humains et du droit international par l’État d’Israël, alors que les populations de Gaza vivent des souffrances indescriptibles et que la population de Cisjordanie subit des attaques incessantes de l’armée et des colons, le Luxembourg dispose des moyens de prendre des mesures courageuses afin d’enrayer la machine de guerre israélienne. De nombreuses initiatives à Luxembourg ont permis d’amener dans le débat public la question de mesures visant à sanctionner Israël pour l’obliger à respecter le droit international et mettre fin à sa guerre génocidaire à Gaza et sa campagne d’annexion et de colonisation en Cisjordanie, mais aussi ses agressions répétées à l’encontre des pays de la région : Liban, Syrie, Iran, Yémen et récemment le Qatar. Lors de la conférence de presse nous rappellerons ces différentes initiatives et exposerons le suivi de celles-ci: Le dépôt d’une pétition à la chambre des députés demandant des sanctions à l’encontre d’Israël, ainsi que le débat qui a suivi Les actions dénonçant l’accord donné par la CSSF à la mise sur le marché des obligations d’État émises par Israël Actions dénonçant l’autorisation accordée par la CSSF pour la gestion du prospectus des obligations d’État émises par Israël à la suite de l’immense pression de la société civile sur la Banque centrale d’Irlande. L’action visant à dénoncer les investissements du fonds de compensation (fonds de pensions du Luxembourg) dans des entreprises israéliennes d’armement ou des banques actives dans la colonisation Les actions à l’encontre de la société israélienne “NSO Group”, connue pour son logiciel “Pegasus” et l’importante initiative judiciaire d’une ONG espagnole à l’encontre des dirigeants de cette société au Luxembourg L’action à l’encontre des prêts accordés par la BEI à des entreprises israéliennes et internationales directement impliquée dans la colonisation et l’effort de guerre israélien La flottille de bateaux visant à briser le siège de Gaza par la mer (“Global Sumud Flotilla”), à la laquelle participe 3 Luxembourgeois Nous exposerons également nos actions à venir, politique ou judiciaire, pour contraindre notre gouvernement à enfin respecter ses obligations qui découlent des nombreuses conventions internationales dont le Luxembourg est signataire, notamment la convention de 1948 pour la prévention du crime de génocide. As the EU’s second-largest investor in Israel after the Netherlands, Luxembourg bears a special responsibility. It must go beyond words and take decisive action: sanction Israel to fulfill its legal duty to prevent genocide and to end any complicity in it. This press conference is a call to the Government to act now. With mass violations of human rights and international law by the State of Israel, the people of Gaza are enduring unbearable suffering, while the population of the West Bank faces relentless attacks from the army and settlers. At this critical moment, Luxembourg has both the responsibility and the means to take bold action to help stop the Israeli war machine.Over the past months, numerous initiatives in Luxembourg have pushed the debate forward on how to hold Israel accountable—through sanctions and other measures—to force compliance with international law and to bring an end to its genocidal war in Gaza, its campaign of annexation and colonization in the West Bank, and its repeated aggressions against other countries in the region: Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Yemen, and most recently Qatar. At the press conference, we will highlight these initiatives and provide updates on their follow-up:The submission of a petition to the Chamber of Deputies calling for sanctions against Israel, and the parliamentary debate that followedActions denouncing the authorization granted by Luxembourg’s Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier, (CSSF) for the managing the prospectus of Israeli ‘war’ bonds following the immense civil society pressure on the Central Bank of Ireland.Efforts to expose and challenge the investments of the Compensation Fund (Luxembourg’s pension fund) in Israeli arms manufacturers, banks and companies complicit in colonization.Campaigns targeting the Israeli company NSO Group, notorious for its Pegasus spyware, alongside a significant lawsuit by a Spanish NGO against the company’s directors in Luxembourg.Opposition to loans granted by the European Investment Bank, based in Luxembourg, to Israeli and international companies directly involved in colonization and Israel’s war machineThe participation of three Luxembourgers in the Global Sumud Flotilla, a fleet of boats attempting to break the illegal siege of Gaza by sea We will also announce upcoming political and legal initiatives aimed at compelling our government to finally meet its obligations under international law—especially the 1948 Convention on the Prevention of the Crime of Genocide, to which Luxembourg is a signatory.
